Let’s be honest here, we have all followed our fav curl girl vlogger or bloggers’ hair regimen advice, in hopes our hair looks just like theirs the next day.

Instead, you end up with dry, frizzy, brittle looking hair. I encourage you to stop comparing yourself to someone who has Type 3c high porosity hair against your 4b low porosity hair. Sis, it just won’t do. Not to worry; when YU know better. YU do better. Let’s dive in.

Generally speaking, porosity is genetic, however your hair porosity can be affected by other factors, such as, chemical processing, over-manipulation and over-exposure to heat (styles & treatments). Knowing your hair’s porosity will help you to choose the proper products to keep your hair well-moisturized, healthy and shiny.

WHERE DO YU FIT?

There are three types of hair porosity.

Low Porosity – Cuticles are shut tight, preventing moisture from entering the hair. Low porosity hair takes longer to get soaked with water. Oils typically sit on the hair, causing buildup Normal Porosity – A desired balance between low and high porosity. If your hair can hold moisture and styles for an extended period of time, you’ve never experienced issues with color, well let’s just say having this balance is #hairgoals.
High Porosity – Raised cuticles, allowing moisture to go enter and escape the hair shafts. If your hair tends to stay wet for a long period of time or loses moisture as fast as you can apply it, then those are indications of highly porous hair.
