Hair teas have grown in popularity in recent years. I tend to avoid “trendy” natural hair care tips, and stick with what works best for MY hair. What I was doing was NO LONGER working, so I scouted the world wide web for answers.

Come to find out, teas are not only rich in antioxidants, amino acids caffeine, but a tea rinse has the capability of softening your hair, increasing the amount of shine and for some, even stops with scalp irritation.

I came across this method after sifting through 100’s of YouTube videos trying to determine why, even after religiously getting my ends trimmed, consistent with deep conditioning, on earth was I still experiencing so much breakage and shedding.

My home-girl, in my head anyway, Naptural85, an OG natural hair care vlogger, introduced this method on her page a few years ago after also suffering hair setbacks due to medical reasons.

THE GREEN TEA RINSE IN ACTION:
Green tea stimulates the hair follicle. Increased blood flow also aids in reducing shedding and increasing hair growth. Green tea strengthens and softens the hair. Honey is a humectant and provides moisture to the hair. Adding this step will only add extra moisture.

What You’ll Need:
-1-2 bags of green tea (caffeinated tea is preferred; check out your local natural/health food store)
-2 cups of water
-1 teaspoon of honey (for added moisture)

Steps:
-Cleanse your hair with product of choice
-Heat the 2 cups of water ( I use an electric kettle)
-Pour water over the tea, add in honey (optional), stir, cover and allow it to steep until cool.
-Pour into a spray bottle
-Apply to hair.
-Allow it to stay in the hair for 15-20 minutes.
-Massage scalp gently with the tips of your fingers (NO NAILS, ouch!)
-Rinse out with lukewarm water.

I incorporate this tea rinse, once a month. While the tea marinates into my hair strands, I like to take this time to condition/detangle my hair.
